The Significance of the First Ten Days of Dhu al-Hijjah

The first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah include some of the best days of the year, culminating in the Day of Arafah and Eid al-Adha (the Day of Sacrifice). Allah has mentioned the virtues of these days in the Quran, as stated:

“That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days” (Surah Al-Hajj: 28).

Scholars interpret the “known days” mentioned in this verse as referring to the days of Dhu al-Hijjah. Allah also swears by these days in the Quran, emphasizing their importance:

“By the dawn and by the ten nights” (Surah Al-Fajr: 1-2).

The “ten nights” are generally understood to refer to the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.
