The Forbiddance of Anger

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him): “A man said to the Prophet, ‘Give me advice.’ The Prophet, peace be upon him, said, ‘Do not get angry.’ The man asked repeatedly and the Prophet answered each time, ‘Do not get angry.’” Related by Bukhari & Muslim

Sacrifice on Eid al-Adha

Following the Eid prayer on the first day of Eid al-Adha, we offer a sacrifice – qurbani – to remember the sacrifice made by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) to Allah (SWT).

A portion of this meat (from a sheep, goat, cow or camel) then goes to help our brothers and sisters in need.

How is Eid al-Adha celebrated?

As with any festival and important occasion, we follow the example of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).

There are various sunnah acts of worship you can do on the day of Eid. .

Beyond performing the Eid prayer and offering qurbani, Muslims will also celebrate by wearing new clothes, visiting friends and family and preparing special dishes.

Different countries have their own traditions for marking Eid al-Adha. In Egypt, it’s common for families to visit the graves of their relatives to pass on Eid greetings, while in Pakistan, girls and women of all ages will adorn their hands with henna just before Eid begins.
