The Demerdash Mosque is located next to the Demerdash Hospital affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine, Ain Shams University, at the beginning of Al-Abbasiya
The mosque now consists of a square room measuring 11 x 10 meters in the middle of the mosque, in its four corners, three large muqarnas, directly above it a large pointed oval dome with sixteen small apse, eight of which are open as windows.
The other eight are blocked as a charm.
On each of the three sides of the room, except for the qibla wall, there are three arches.
The qibla wall contains a large mihrab next to it, on the left side, a shrine made of carved wood with the mausoleum of Sheikh al-Demerdash.
Above the mihrab is a lamp window filled with sawn wood, and on each of the four sides of the dome there is a small square window filled with sawn wood.
The current description of the dome is completely consistent with the description he mentioned to Mubarak in his plans, which indicates that the dome is old and dates back to the twelfth century at least, even if it had been repainted.
As for the rest of the mosque, it was rebuilt because it differs clearly from Ali Mubarak’s description of it, as it now surrounds the dome from the south and west sides, and it has a wooden roof, not exposed, and it has a mihrab and a minbar in the wall separating it from the dome. There is also a retreat on two floors (lower and upper) on the southern side of it.
It is surrounded from the outside on its three northern, western and eastern sides by a garden and a group of residences belonging to the mosque's employees.
The main entrance to the mosque is located on the southwestern side, and it is topped by a minaret consisting of three rounds that end in the form of an incense burner, which is Mamluk style.
