Al-Bahr Mosque is the most famous and beautiful mosque in Damietta. It is located on the eastern bank of the Nile. It was renovated for the first time in 1009 AH during the era of the Ottoman rule. It was built on an area of 1200 square meters in the Andalusian style. Then it was renovated and built for the second time in the Andalusian style also in 1967. Its walls are decorated with the finest Islamic inscriptions. It has five Domes and two minarets, and a cultural and religious library attached to it. It was restored in 1997 AD and opened on the night of Isra and Mi’raj in 1418 AH.
