Mustafa Mahmoud Mosque or Mahmoud Mosque - the correct name for the mosque - was built by the Egyptian writer and thinker Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud in the year 1979 AD. It is located in Sheikh Saleh Musa Sharaf Street, and this street was known as Mustafa Mahmoud Street in relation to the mosque. It is also facing Gamaet El Dowal Street, one of the most important main streets in the Mohandessin area in Giza, the capital of Giza Governorate. The mosque is of medium size in terms of area, and it has gained its importance from the amount of financial and in-kind donations that it provides to the poor, in addition to the clinic attached to the mosque, which provides medical services accessible to everyone and with a high degree of efficiency, as well as the charitable feeding project called (Al-Rahman Table), which provides food To the passers-by and the poor in the holy month of Ramadan.
The mosque also includes three medical centers and a hospital concerned with treating people with limited income and intended for many Egyptians due to its good medical reputation, and medical convoys consisting of 16 doctors. It includes professors who give lessons in astronomy and space sciences. The museum includes a collection of granite rocks, mummified butterflies of various shapes and some marine creatures.
The mosque is also famous for organizing annual celebrations on major religious occasions, such as the Islamic New Year and the Prophet's birthday, attended by sheikhs of the most prominent scholars of Al-Azhar and local leaders such as the governor of Giza and members of the local and executive council.
The mosque also organizes large squares for the two Eid prayers that can accommodate thousands who come from different areas to attend the prayer, and sheikhs from the Ministry of Endowments participate in the sermons.
