Why Do We Make Dua?

• Dua is an important part of the Muslim’s daily life to communicate Allah (SWT) with everything he wants in daily life or life-changing decisions or to seek relief and Hidayah.

• Dua makes miracles, and among the famous examples of Dua that were answered by miracles on Earth is that of Zakariya PBUH. As he discreetly addressed the Merciful Creator expressing his old age and his wife’s sterility and desire to have a son. In Surat Maryam, it is said about Prophet Zakariya: “When he called to his Lord a private supplication. He said, “My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy.”
• “ذِكْرُ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُ زَكَرِيَّا. إِذْ نَادَى رَبَّهُ نِدَاء خَفِيًّا. قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّي وَهَنَ الْعَظْمُ مِنِّي وَاشْتَعَلَ الرَّأْسُ شَيْبًا وَلَمْ أَكُن بِدُعَائِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيًّا.”
• He asked for a son and his wish was granted with not only a son but one who became an inspirational Prophet. This is a beautiful expression of how weakness to Allah through the sincere expression of emotion can bring actual miracles into the world!
• Allah SWT says in Surat Al Baqarah: “When My slaves ask you concerning Me, then I am indeed near, responding to the invocations of the supplicant if he calls on Me.”
• إِذَا سَأَلَكَ عِبَادِي عَنِّي فَإِنِّي قَرِيبٌ أُجِيبُ دَعْوَةَ الدَّاعِ إِذَا دَعَانِ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُوا لِي وَلْيُؤْمِنُوا بِي لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْشُدُونَ (186)
• You will always get what is good for you because Allah is so generous, our beloved Prophet Muhammed says: that Allah, the Master is so generous and feels shy returning a slave’s hand empty after they were raised to Him. The exact script is: قالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ” إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَعَالَى كَرِيمٌ يَسْتَحِي إِذَا رَفَعَ إِلَيْهِ الْعَبْدُ يَدَيْهِ أَنْ يَرُدَّهُمَا صِفْرًا حَتَّى يَضَعَ فِيهِمَا خَيْرًا “

“Allah put a great distance between me and my sins as great as the distance You have made between the East and the West. O Allah, cleanse me of sin as a white garment is cleansed from filth. O Allah, wash away my sins with snow and water and hail.”
