How To Pray Salat Al-Duha? Importance, Benefits, Timing.

What Is Salat Al-Duha? Duḥa is linguistically defined as the time of sunrise.  It is an optional two-rakʿah prayer that the Prophet ﷺ prayed frequently and advised the companions to pray, and its time is between sunrise and Dhuhr. Duha prayer is also called Ishrāq prayer, and Awwābīn prayer. The ruling is that Duha prayer is a sunnah mu’akkadah (confirmed […]

Wiping over the Khuff

It is established in the Prophet’s Sunnah that one may wipe over the khuff (a kind of leather socks that covers the ankle). The majority of scholars include socks under this ruling .

Types of Takbeer

1. Restricted Takbeer (Takbeer al-Muqayyad)

Restricted Takbeer is recited after the obligatory prayers and is specific to Eid al-Adha. It begins on the morning of the Day of Arafah (9th of Dhu al-Hijjah) and continues until the Asr prayer on the last day of the Days of Tashreeq (13th of Dhu al-Hijjah).

2. Unrestricted Takbeer (Takbeer al-Mutlaq)

Unrestricted Takbeer is recited from the beginning of Dhu al-Hijjah upon sighting the new moon and continues until the end of the Days of Tashreeq. It can be recited at any time and in any place, such as markets, homes, and mosques.

3. Unrestricted Takbeer for Eid al-Fitr

For Eid al-Fitr, the unrestricted Takbeer begins from sunset on the eve of Eid and continues until the Imam goes out to lead the Eid prayer. Thus, the Takbeer for Eid al-Adha is both restricted and unrestricted, while the Takbeer for Eid al-Fitr is only unrestricted. Reciting Takbeer is a Sunnah.

Virtue of Takbeer in the First Ten Days of Dhu al-Hijjah

  1. Remembrance and Gratitude to Allah

    • Takbeer is a form of remembrance (dhikr) of Allah and a means of expressing gratitude for His great blessings. Allah says in Surah Al-Hajj: “That they may witness benefits for themselves and mention the name of Allah on known days” (Al-Hajj: 28). The known days refer to the first ten days of Dhu al-Hijjah.
  2. Elevation of Status and Expiation of Sins

    • Remembrance of Allah and Takbeer are among the best deeds that elevate a person’s status and expiate sins. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “There are no days during which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days.” The companions asked, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah?” He said, “Not even Jihad for the sake of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and returns with neither” (Reported by Bukhari).

Different Forms of Takbeer

Muslims can recite Takbeer in various forms, including:

  1. “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil-hamd.”
  2. “Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illallah, Allahu Akbar, Allahu Akbar, wa lillahil-hamd.”
  3. “Allahu Akbar kabira, walhamdulillahi kathira, wa subhanallahi bukratan wa aseela.”

Virtue of Takbeer During the Days of Tashreeq

  1. Reviving the Remembrance of Allah During the Appointed Days

    • The Days of Tashreeq (11th, 12th, 13th of Dhu al-Hijjah) are designated for the remembrance of Allah and celebration. Allah says: “And remember Allah during the appointed days” (Al-Baqarah: 203). These appointed days are the Days of Tashreeq.
  2. Thanking Allah for His Blessings

    • The Days of Tashreeq follow the performance of Hajj rituals. They are days for thanking Allah for completing the pilgrimage, and it is recommended to engage in remembrance and Takbeer during these days.

Spiritual Impact of Takbeer

  1. Strengthening Faith

    • Reciting Takbeer strengthens the faith of believers and reminds them of the greatness and power of Allah, increasing their certainty and tranquility.
  2. Enhancing Social Bonds

    • Collective Takbeer in mosques and public places strengthens social bonds among Muslims and reminds them of the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
